The United States has issued an order requiring inbound passengers to provide proof of a negative coronavirus (COVID-19) test or recovery from COVID-19.
A health alert posted on the website of the U.S. Embassy in Barbados on Saturday said: “U.S. citizens in countries where adequate COVID-19 tests are not available or may not be able to meet to requirements, must leave immediately or be prepared not to be able to do so. return to the United States until they can meet the requirements. “
This follows recent action by Britain which announced from January 18 that all travel lanes with the UK would be suspended.
A press release from the UK High Commission said emergency measures had been introduced “to be in place for at least a month to protect the UK from new variants of the virus”.
Britain said “all international arrivals to the UK from any country (including UK and Irish nationals) must now pass a pre-departure test and self-isolate for ten days.”
In addition, passengers “must continue to complete a passenger tracing form and test negative before traveling to the UK or could face a fine of £ 500 each”.
The US health alert also said, “The director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) signed an order requiring all air passengers traveling to the United States, including US citizens and residents. Permanent Lawyers (LPR), provide proof of a COVID-19 viral test for negative coronavirus or recovery from COVID-19.
“As of January 26, all air passengers in the United States aged two years and over must provide a negative COVID-19 viral test performed within three calendar days of travel or provide a positive test result and documentation of ” a licensed healthcare provider or the public responsible for health to have recovered from COVID-19 within 90 days of travel.
“Passengers must also certify, under penalty of the law, that they have received a negative qualifying test result or have recovered from COVID-19 and medical clearance to travel.”
The notice says airlines must deny boarding to passengers who do not meet these requirements.
