ANN ARBOR, MI – The Big House, which was dormant during this year’s college football season due to the pandemic, will open to provide increased access to administer the COVID-19 vaccine.
Hundreds of University of Michigan employees and students who fall under the Phase 1A vaccination priority group are expected to receive their first dose of Pfizer vaccine at Michigan Stadium on Thursday, December 31, Michigan Medicine said in a press release on Wednesday. .
The health system has already vaccinated more than 6,000 health workers since receiving its initial shipment of 1,950 doses of vaccine on December 14. With the stadium opening and other planned venues, Michigan Medicine aims to deliver all vaccine doses received from the state, according to me.
Currently, Michigan Medicine only vaccinates workers and students who are in the first priority group, according to guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
The first day of vaccination at Michigan Stadium, 1201 S Main Street, is 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, according to the release.
