University promotes safety and awareness for busy weekends

Ohio State University celebrates Homecoming on Friday and during the Maryland football game at noon on Saturday at Ohio Stadium.

The university asks students to be aware of and use the enhanced security resources in the college district as well as the personal security options available. Students are also encouraged to arrive at the stadium early and prepare for match day.

In last weeks, Ohio State has added more moving lights, cameras, and security resources where many students live. More resources will be in place this weekend.

Students are encouraged to use lighted trails as they stroll through the university district. The state of Ohio has also extended overnight access to Ride Smart Elevator carpooling service – which can now be used to and from the Short North area.

Upgrades to the Ohio State app make resources and security features more important, and students can purchase a personal security device from the Office of Student Life. Arrive early and be prepared

The Athletics Department supports a safer experience for fans by reminding students to arrive early to the game.

Students arriving early can get pretzels, popcorn, and hot dogs for half the price until kick off at the southern stalls concessions using mobile ordering through the official website Ohio State Buckeyes App. The app is also a simple way to manage tickets and parking. In addition to arriving early, students are reminded to load their mobile ticket onto their iPhone or Google Pay wallet before arriving at the stadium.
