The Kania School of Management at the University of Scranton has announced a donation of $ 1 million from John D. Dionne ’86 and Jacquelyn Dionne ’89. The generous donation will be used to name and support two of Kania’s honor programs: the Frank P. Corcione Business Honor Program; and the Robert L. McKeage Business Leadership Honors Program. The fund will support the growing study abroad program and other activities for students of these two specialist programs, as well as for other students enrolled in the Kania School of Management.
The Frank P. Corcione Business Honors program and the Robert L. McKeage Business Leadership Honors program are among the five undergraduate excellence programs. The Business Specialization Program is a selective four-year program for highly motivated undergraduates interested in academic excellence in business who will pursue specialized studies in the fields of economics, entrepreneurship, operations management, accounting, finance, international business, marketing and management. The Business Leadership Specialization Program is a highly selective program that students enter into their junior year. Participants explore basic theories and concepts of leadership through seminars and special courses on management, ethics, strategy, and analysis, in addition to field trips to learn from senior executives and projects. leadership, service and mentoring.
For over twenty-five years, the Dionnes have been good friends and generous benefactors of the University of Scranton and the Kania School of Management. The Dions were co-recipients of the 2013 University President’s Medal and were the driving force behind the creation of the Kania School CEO Hall of Fame. The green located in the heart of the University campus is named in their honor.

Originally from Scranton, Jackie Dionne is a registered nurse and received her Bachelor of Health Administration degree from the University. She is currently a registered nurse for the elderly and patients with Alzheimer’s disease. Jackie Dionne sits on the University’s Board of Trustees and previously served on its Board from 2011 to 2017. She works with many charities including the National Charity League, Horizons Organization of Bridgeport and Meals on Wheels.
Originally from New Hampshire, John Dionne received a bachelor’s degree in economics / finance and accounting from the University and went on to obtain an MBA from Harvard Business School. A very successful business leader, he retired in 2013 as Senior Managing Director of the Blackstone Group. He is currently Senior Advisor to Blackstone, Senior Lecturer at Harvard Business School and Director of Fortune 500 companies. Former Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, John Dionne, participated in the launch of the President’s Business Council and the annual awards dinner. A frequent speaker in the Executive in Residence program at the Kania School of Management and other leading universities, he was recently named one of Harvard’s 50 Most Highlighted Alumni.
