In her last TikTok video before her death, Megan Alexandra Blankenbiller encouraged her thousands of followers to get vaccinated as she battled COVID-19 from a hospital.

“I don’t have a lot of energy to speak, so I’ll try to do this quickly. I’m going to take a few breaks, ”Blankenbiller said in the August 15 video, which has been viewed over 850,000 times.

“So just to follow up, like I said in my other videos, I didn’t get the shot,” said Blankenbiller, who lived in the Jacksonville, Fla. Area, according to WebMD. “I am not anti-vax. I was just trying to do my research. I was scared and wanted my family and I to all do it at the same time. And as you surely know, it’s hard to get everyone to agree on something if people feel differently.

Blankenbiller, who appeared to be struggling to catch his breath, said not getting the shot “was a mistake”.

“I shouldn’t have waited,” she said before pleading with her supporters: “If you’re 70% sure you want the vaccine, go get it. Do not wait. Go and get it. Because I hope if you get it you don’t end up in the hospital like me.

The video was posted just over a week before Blankenbiller’s death. Her sister Cristina Blankenbiller confirmed her death in a Facebook post.

“Thank you all for your prayers for my family. I am saddened and heartbroken to share that my older sister was called to heaven today. Megan was such a lovely person who gave her everything to anyone who needed it. She was a light to all around her and brought joy to everyone she met, ”read the August 24 Facebook post.

“She is loved forever and was the best big sister and friend one could ask for. Not a day will go by that she is not on my mind and heart.”

Megan Blankenbiller revealed she had Covid and was hospitalized in an August 13 TikTok video. In another post, she became emotional as she spoke of hearing what she assumed to be the screams of family members who had lost a loved one.

“I know what it looks like personally and what it looks like,” she said.

Cristina Blankenbiller declined to be interviewed on Thursday. She told WebMD that the family, including her mother and sisters, all agreed to be vaccinated but fell ill before their date. Megan Blankenbiller had the worst symptoms, her sister said.

“Megan was a really happy and sincere person. She wanted to spread the joy and make everyone smile. It would uplift people and motivate people to be kind to each other, ”said Cristina Blankenbiller.

She thinks people have been drawn to her sister’s TikTok because of her positive outlook on life.

“She was the type of person who chose to see the world through rose-colored glasses, trying to find beauty in everything. I think that kind of point of view is what attracted people to her, ”said Cristina Blankenbiller. “Her laugh was infectious and you couldn’t meet her without your mood improving.”

Her other sister, Rachel Blankenbiller, told WebMD: “Her last video really showed who she was. She was selfless – the kind of person who used her last days to help others. “
