Indiana State Police today confirmed a second death in the Interstate 70 crashes. This was the result of the 11:55 accident at the 17-mile marker.
Another person has been stolen since the second crash site.
Sgt. Matt Ames, of the ISP, said the traffic was blocked due to the accident at 9:40 am at the 11-mile marker.
The second collision occurred after a sandwich collapsed by a semiconductor, and when he leaned over to pick it up, he was unable to see the traffic being discharged.
This semitrailer collided with the back of another semitrailer.
The fuel lines of the strike broke, causing the cabin of this truck to swallow.
This driver is dead, the police said.
The driver of the semi-trailer struck at the back was not seriously injured. However, a passenger in the sleeping part of the cabin was seriously injured on the back and neck and was transported to the Terre Haute regional hospital.
Ames said the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 would likely remain closed until 5:00 pm. today or later, and all westbound traffic is redirected by Brazil via Exit 23.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
Update, 12:45 pm: One person was airlifted from the accident site near marker 17, another was stuck in a semi-taxi.
Lifeline left the wreckage of 17 mm with one person.

Update, 12:28 pm: Motorists should avoid Interstate 70 near its intersection with Indiana 46. Indiana State Police, assisted by other agencies, handle two collisions, one involving a death.
The first accident occurred around 9:40 am on I-70 heading west near the 11-mile marker. FAI Sgt. Matt Ames said that it was two utility vehicles and five passenger vehicles. One person was killed and at least one was transported to a local hospital.
At approximately 11:55, another accident occurred near kilometer 17 westerly. A medical helicopter is on the scene.
Ames said that first responders and tow crews would likely work at the scene of the accident for at least three additional hours, and that motorists should avoid the area.

Original story, 11h50 – At least one person died in a multi-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday morning on Interststate 70 at the 11-mile marker (Indiana intersection 46).
Indiana State Police report that two semi-trucks and five passenger vehicles are involved in the east.
The accident occurred in the westbound lane and the I-70 remains closed to allow reconstruction and cleaning of the accident.
