Uri Geller says Nintendo can print Kadabra on Pokémon cards again

Spoon Magician Uri Geller gave Nintendo permission to use the character Cadabra on Pokemon cards today, after a 2o year legal dispute in which Geller claimed the PokIt isjapanese from my the name and image were too close to his.

“I’m really sorry for what I did 20 years ago ”, Geller tweeted today. “Children and adults, I let go of the ban. Everything now depends on #Nintendo to bring my #kadabra #pokemon return of the card. This will probably be one of the rarest cards around! Lots of energy and love to all!

As Screenrant explains, while Kadabra is a word associated with magic, the Pokthe Japanese name for emon –variously written as Young people, Yungeller, and Yun Geller—seems to be a reference to Geller. Cadabra holds a spoon, a semblance reference to Geller’s most famous illusion. Geller sued Nintendo for Kadabra in 2000, seeking damages and insisting that the card cease to be used in sets. “Nintendo turned me into an evil, occult Pokémon character. Nintendo stole my identity by using my name and signature, ” Geller said at the time.

Subsequently, Kadabra did not appear in a Pokemon card game from 2003. The other evolutions of Kadabra, Abra and Alakazam, also have Japanese names which refer to actual magicians; these characters appeared on the maps bypassing the evolution of Kadabra.

Talk to the website The player, Geller wrote: “Due to the huge volume of emails that I always get begging me to allow Nintendo to bring Kadabra / Yungeller back, I sent […] a letter to the president of Nintendo giving them permission to relaunch Uri Geller Kadabra / Yungeller worldwide. ” The player writes that Geller said his request was “picked up by ‘two Nintendo representatives,“” But it is not yet known whether Kadabra will make a reappearance.
