10 years of the App Store: 10 apps we loved and forgotten

[ad_1]

This July sees Apple celebrating the 10th anniversary of the App Store

The iOS platform arrived on July 10, 2008 with just over 500 apps available for download on the iPhone and iPad. IPod Touch. Today, the App Store boasts more than two million applications, which we have long since forgotten.

To mark the occasion, we return to some of the applications that once glued to our telephones:

1. Draw something

Draw Something had a basic premise but attracted people with its ability to get people to play together remotely. Simply draw something (as clearly indicates the title of the game) and your friend should determine what that is. The Pictionary style app was also great for being a fast paced game – and friends did not have to solve the games immediately either.

2. Flappy Bird

Flappy Bird caused a storm in May 2013, resulting in a near-global dependence and the creator therefore pulled out the lash. application for a while. Developer Dong Nguyen said the ad in the game earned him $ 50,000 a day.

3. Flashlight

It might be hard to remember, but the iPhone did not have a dedicated flashlight function on the first models meaning you have to download a Flashlight application to do for you. Now that iOS includes its own flashlight, the original applications are pretty redundant.

4. Tap Tap Revenge

Tap Tap Revenge was the dance floor for your fingers. Listen to popular songs and hit the beat as the bubbles appeared at the bottom of your screen. The game was so popular that several thematic derived apps were created, including a Lady Gaga and Glee variant.

5. Vine

Vine (Twitter)

Six seconds of looping videos that you could share with the world whole – what more? Despite being well regarded, Vine Twitter owners have decided to close the application in January 2017.

6. Temple Run

Another game that you may have hidden on your iPhone somewhere is Temple Run. Remember to jump, dodge, and slide desperately while escaping from a beast ruthlessly rolling in pursuit?

7. Bubble Wrap

Bubble Wrap – oh so simple but so soothing, but not always available when you're stressed on your commute. In comes the Bubble Wrap application to save. Although there have been several copies, the main Bubble Wrap application has not been updated since 2012 – we can only imagine that people have missed this real sensation of slam.

8. A raging lightsaber

If you have always wanted to feel like a true Jedi knight, the application of the lightsaber was the one for you. Choose your color and wave your phone as if you were Luke Skywalker.

9. Words with friends

Those who have a way with words could not get enough words with friends, if anything to show whimsical words that they knew (or guessed) while earning bundles of points to climb the all-important leaderboard. Words with friends always go a long way, but you do not see that many people obsess about it as they did at first.

10. Angry Birds

It may have been derived in several themed versions, as well as on the big screen with goods to boot, but does anyone play Angry Birds anymore? ? It may not be forgotten but playing it is a distant memory …
