12 Siri shortcuts to improve your productivity

[ad_1]

Apple now considering the future of enterprise mobility, I have put together a short collection of Siri shortcuts that can make you more productive. As you can see, I included the workflow used in some (but not all) of them to show how to build these elements.

Call me back to work

Did you have a good idea? Have you ever experienced one of those "Eureka" moments when the best strategic approach to a complex problem strikes you when you board a train? Need to remember to order a birthday present for kids? Do not worry – as long as you've set an address in this little shortcut (and shortcuts have access to your reminders), things are going well. Get this one here.

Share availability

This is an extremely useful shortcut if you are trying to create a meeting. Use it and you can select a date, get the available times on that date and share it with the help of messaging, messages, AirDrop, and so on. This should allow anyone convening the meeting to more easily fix the best available time for all potential participants. Be sure to check the many workflow decisions that make this shortcut possible. Although this sounds confusing at first, analyzing how they work will help you create (and modify) your own sets. Download this useful little shortcut here.

AirDrop Business Card

If the person you are connecting to is also using an iOS device, you can use AirDrop Business Card to share your contact information with them. You will have to choose your contact card the first time you run it. I suggest creating a map for your company's contact information and using it.

  • Get the type
  • Contacts (Press + to add contacts)
  • Get the contacts from the entrance
  • AirDrop
  • Or do it here.

Receipt / document scanner and storage

This handy shortcut will analyze your receipts / documents, then allow you to choose the folder in which to save them to iCloud and Dropbox. This is great if you manage multiple projects / companies and you need to keep the classified items appropriately. This is a complete shortcut that you can download here. Once you have downloaded it, be sure to review the actions it contains because you can not only edit them for your use, but you can also learn how to create your own actions in several steps.

Get the file size

Do you want to check the size of a file before sending it to someone from your iOS device? The problem is that Files does not make it easy. This is where this shortcut comes in. You can grab this useful little tool here or build it yourself as follows:

  • Set the shortcut to accept everything, and then add the following:
  • Get file details, set to File size
  • Copy to clipboard
  • View Alert> File Details

Image Search

Siri Shortcuts Apple is a tool that allows you to do a reverse search of an image using Google images. Once you have added it to your Siri shortcuts library, you use it as follows: When the image is open on your device, tap on Share> Shortcuts and select the shortcut Search for & # 39; 39, pictures in the list you find. The widget will explore to see if the photo is used elsewhere. For my Siri sentence, I used "Reverse Image Search" and changed the name of the shortcut element. Get it here.

Search anywhere

I like this little shortcut. Highlight text, tap Share, select Shortcuts, and then tap the Search item in your collection. You can then choose the service on which you want to search for this item: Google, YouTube, IMDB, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Google Image Search and Reddit are all supported. Add to that a Siri vocal shortcut, and all you have to do when you come across something you want to look for is to select it and tell Siri to "Search on". Boom. Get this one here.

Apple Notes Clipper

Here is a quick way to save the text of an article found online in a note. This shortcut reads the URL and tries to get the text that it then places in a note. It was created by Andrew Orr at MacObserver, and you can grab it here.

Translate text

This handy little shortcut takes the foreign language text that you enter into the widget and translates it into English with the help of Microsoft Bing. For example, if you are on a website, simply select the text you want to translate, copy it, and then select that shortcut using the Share menu. You will be prompted to paste the copy. You can build it yourself as follows:

  • Request an entry: Question Which text do you want to translate, Text of the type of entry
  • Translate Txt with Microsoft
  • Detect Language; To ask when to run
  • Eye catch

Dropbox> iCloud / iCloud> Dropbox

Maybe you can help me? I'm trying to create my own little shortcut for exchanging files between iCloud and Dropbox, but I think what I've done up to now could be a little more elegant (suggestions please). This seems to work, however, you will have to give permissions to Dropbox first.

  • Get File> Dropbox Service, Show Document Chooser
  • Copy to clipboard
  • Save File> iCloud Drive Service, switch to Ask Where to Save in the.

Google Maps / Apple Maps

You can create two shortcuts: one to open the Apple Maps destination in Google Maps and another for the reverse path. This is especially useful if you are on the road, as you can create a voice command for this action to occur – which can be useful if you need to check alternative directions to where you want to go or if you want to use Apple Maps & # 39 ;. a promised opportunity to get you to the right entrance to your destination. The instructions are here.

Police Monitor

This one causes all kinds of consternation. In my opinion, this could help prevent blatant abuse of power, which should be good for everyone. What does the shortcut: If you are intercepted while driving, the shortcut pauses the music, turns on your selfie camera and starts recording the video. It also reduces the brightness, activates Do not disturb and sends a video of the meeting to a contact that you have already predefined. You can get this shortcut right here.

You want more shortcuts?

In addition to my advice, Apple offers an extensive shortcut gallery within the Shortcuts app itself.

There is also a thriving home-sharing industry where people share theirs: Shortcuts subreddit and Sharecuts seem to be two of the most popular sharing sites, though I've found some interesting examples at Shortcuts Gallery. .

As you get involved in creating your own shortcuts, you'll quickly discover that you can extend the functionality of Siri Shortcuts-supported applications using tools such as IFTT, Opener, or Zapier.
