2018 iPhones could get an upgraded version of a feature Android has had for years – BGR

A flood of reports has revealed several new details about the next generation of iPhone X models over the past few days. We saw a second practical video featuring mockups of the 2018 iPhone, as well as a benchmark test that reveals that the iPhone X Plus will have 4GB of RAM and that the A12 chip will power the new iPhones will destroy the competition.

But now, a report from the Chinese site 21st Century Business Herald states that the 2018 iPhones will have dual dual-SIM support. However, only iPhones linked to China will have slots for two physical cards. All other phones, and here is where things are much better, will come with the support of a single physical SIM card and Apple SIM.

Introduced in 2014 for the iPad, the Apple SIM is a virtual SIM card that allows you to use whatever mobile service you want, provided the operators take support Apple SIM. This is great news for travelers who carry multiple SIM cards for different countries. Things will get a lot easier with virtual SIM cards. Or at least that seems to be the idea.

Apple SIM, meanwhile, is not supported in China, which is why Apple would make different dual-SIM iPhones for the market. Dual-SIM support is very popular in China and a reason why some buyers could avoid the current iPhones.

However, there is no way to confirm the news, and no way to explain why the 5.8-inch iPhone X5 is not supposed to get support dual SIM via Apple SIM. A previous report indicated that only the 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch iPhone would support the dual SIM card.

That said, support for the dual SIM card is the other thing I would like Apple to take from Android, in addition to faster battery charge.
