Hitman was one of the best surprise games of 2016. And in view of the launch of Hitman 2, IO Interactive developer presented a sequel that basically looks like the first game, which is reason enough to be excited.
That said, the developer and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced a brand new mode called Ghost Mode. And it looks awesome.
Something completely different from the first game, Ghost Mode is a competitive 1v1 mode where you face another player to kill the target first. According to IO Interactive, the mode will put your killing skills to the test and will run in a way that fits the rest of the game.
How it works? Each target you eliminate before the other player brings you a point. The problem is that you do not eliminate different targets, but the same. The first five points wins the match.
If you share the same target, you will play in different realities. In other words, even if you play in the same place and you have the same target, the status of your game reality will only be affected by your actions. In other words, the other player can neither control you nor ruin your assassination.
However, you will be able to see the Ghost version of your opponent and see how close they are to killing the target, as well as the methods and tricks they deploy.
Once your opponent eliminates a target, you have in fact a short window to kill your own target to equalize the score and stay in the game. But even if a small window is granted to you, you will not be able to get a complete Rambo, because killing non-targets will decrease your score.
According to IO Interactive, Ghost mode is not always the fastest, because it sometimes requires careful planning and precise execution. Your target kills will have to be unnoticed, and you will start with a limited charge.
To find more items, you have to find and open Ghost Crates, which contains a selection of identical items for both players. In addition, the crates are shared. So, if you get there first, you can select the item you want and, therefore, the one your opponent will not receive. And there is a strategy in this process, because getting Ghost Crates will help you with your future targets, but can also make you lose your current target.
Hitman 2 should be released November 13 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. For more information and coverage on the title, click here.
