Phones that use two lenses can take better pictures. Here are the top four available right now.
The phones with two cameras in the back have been around for years (think of the HTC Evo 3D of 2011).
But thanks to some flagships launched in the last two years, the two-camera configuration may be here to stay.
Here are four of CNET's choices for the best dual camera phones.
Samsung Galaxy Note 9
CNET rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars (outstanding)

The cost: $ 1,000
Good: The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is a great phone with high level specifications, including a massive battery and 128GB internal storage. The new S Pen also serves as a wireless remote control for taking selfies over long distances.
The bad: It's expensive, and there's little real innovation compared to last year's rating.
The bottom line: Note 9, very expensive, is one of the best phones of the year. But unless you really need an upgrade, the smart solution is to wait for what the next iPhone, Pixel and even the Galaxy S10 bring.
Apple iPhone X
CNET rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars (outstanding)
The cost: $ 999 – $ 1,099
Good: When the iPhone X came out, it offered an excellent blend of pocket comfort and a large 5.8-inch OLED display. The rear-facing telephoto lens exceeds the iPhone 8 Plus in low light and the forward-facing camera makes impressive selfies in portrait mode. Face recognition generally works well.
The bad: The new iPhone XS has just been available, but you'll have to wait until the end of October to get the XR with the liquid retina display. The all-glass body means a case and an insurance plan are strong points.
The bottom line: The iPhone X remains a winning evolution of the iPhone, and the XS and XS Max have even more photo features, as well as better battery life.
OnePlus 6
CNET rating: 4 out of 5 stars (excellent)
The cost: $ 644
Good: The OnePlus 6 is fast, takes great pictures in portrait mode, has a refined design and costs much less than other flagship phones.
The bad: It lacks waterproof, wireless charging and has a shorter battery life than the OnePlus 5T. In the United States, the phone does not work on CDMA operators such as Verizon and Sprint.
The bottom line: The OnePlus 6 is an excellent phone and offers many features of the more expensive flagship phones.
Huawei P20 Pro
CNET rating: 4 out of 5 stars (Excellent)
The cost: $ 759 – $ 788
The bad: There is no wireless charging and there is no headphone jack or expandable storage. The automatic settings of the camera do not always produce the best results.
The bottom line: The Huawei P20 Pro's revolutionary low-light mode and superb twilight color system make it a serious competitor for Galaxy, iPhone and Pixel phones.
