Apple and other major smartphone manufacturers publish new brilliant versions of their devices every year. But, despite what marketing can tell you, you certainly do not need to upgrade each cycle.
On Wednesday, leaders of the Steve Jobs Theater Cupertino unveiled three new phones: an iPhone XS, a faster version of the X released last year, with the same screen size; the XS Max, a larger version of the same; and a little more economical phone called the XR. This latest model, unmarketed until October, still has the same identity as its more expensive cousins, but it features an aluminum casing and an LCD screen, instead of Stainless steel and an OLED screen, as on XS models.
But beyond a simple brilliant phone, there are practical and compelling reasons to consider upgrading to a new iPhone, if you're not already faithful to Android options, such as Google Pixel or Samsung Galaxy. There are also compelling reasons to wait. First of all, these are the reasons to go from the front.
You're tired of Touch ID
Apple has included a fingerprint sensor in its phones since the iPhone 5s, and it works most of the time – although some people discover that if their fingers are wet with sweat or work in the kitchen , the phone requires a password. Same, if you wear gloves in winter. The next version of biometric security on these phones is face recognition, and it has been around since last year with the iPhone X. You have little hands, but you want a bigger and more beautiful screen
The iPhone SE, now abandoned, had an excellent form factor, barely 4.87 inches, for those who did not want to hold a device the size of a tablet in their hands reduced. But with the iPhone X last year, Apple aficionados had a small device (only 5.85 inches in height) but with a 5.8-inch screen on the diagonal; bigger than the screen of the biggest iPhone 8 Plus. You want more storage on your device
If the device you're using is packed with photos, applications, and downloaded movies that take up valuable space, you might be interested in acquiring a new device with lots of free space. Two of the three iPhones announced yesterday, the XS and the XS Max, come with a storage option of 512 GB. That's a lot. Of course, the XS Max with this storage choice costs $ 1,449 and you can still manage your storage on your existing device by deleting unused apps and selecting "Optimize iPhone Storage" in the Photos section of your phone's settings; this means that your device will keep smaller and larger images in the cloud.
You want a faster phone
The iPhone 8 and X announced last year had a chip faster than the year before – what Apple calls the A11 Bionic, compared to the A10 Fusion. This year, the new phones, as you might expect, have a faster processor again. They labeled it A12 Bionic. If you are currently using an iPhone 7 or earlier, upgrading now will allow you to have a chip that is two generations ahead. (Of course, it's likely that 2019 phones will always be faster.) And for the most part, you'll only notice those speeds that increase if you perform tasks that require a lot of treatment, such as using ARs.
You want a battery (slightly) more durable
If you are already using a 2017 Apple phone, the latest releases are advertised as having a longer battery life – the iPhone XS has a lithium-ion battery meant to last 'up to 30 minutes longer than the iPhone X ". the newest, the XS Max is designed to last up to 1.5 hours longer than the X. The new XR promises an extra 90 minutes thanks to the already powerful battery of the 8 Plus.
Reasons why you should not upgrade
Of course, if your phone generally works well, there is no reason to shell out money now. It's easy to find the incentive to wait.
The most recent operating system will probably work on your phone.
Just as it unveils new devices each year, Apple also publishes a new free update of the operating system every year. The last one, called iOS 12, falls on September 17th. Apple is offering this version of the operating system as being "faster" and "more responsive," meaning that this year the focus is not on, making it more efficient. Next year will be better

The phones are built to last
Smartphones like the iPhone are made from materials such as stainless steel and aluminum. The latest devices, for example, include a glass that is "the most durable glass ever on a smartphone," says Apple. If your phone is not horribly cracked and it's working properly, think of it as a reliable car. Keep driving it until you really need it.
Finally, consider which choice works best for you as well. Apple has its own upgrade program designed for people who feel they need the last device every year. For example, the company charges $ 49.91 a month for the iPhone XS, but after one year, you can get the next gadget if you make your payments. You can also exchange one phone directly with the company for the other price. In addition, individual operators offer their own payment systems: for example, AT & T sells options called Next and Next Every Year; the first option divides the cost of the phone into 30 payments. But if you already have your phone free and clear, and the upgrade is an added bonus for your wallet, you might better wait until next year if you're happy with what you have.
