Beginning with the release of Chrome 71 in December, your browser will notify you of sites that may charge and bill you without your knowledge or consent. Specifically, the measures target mobile billing services, where just a little more than your phone number to charge an additional fee on your monthly bill. According to Google, millions of Chrome users encounter monthly pages containing unclear or insufficient mobile subscription information.

In order not to be tagged, sites will need to ensure the franchise of any charges that may affect Chrome users. This involves making billing information obvious, not trying to hide it by placing gray text on a white background, for example, and not using a fee structure that obscures the actual cost. Chrome 71 users will receive a warning when they visit unclear billing pages on non-compliant sites.
