If you want a good game that guarantees you to move on, visit the Xbox Store. One of the best Xbox 360 games ever designed (which is also backward compatible on the Xbox One) is currently available at the low price of free: Crackdown.
If you've never heard of Crackdown, which is a feat in itself, here's all you need to know about the game: it's an open world sandbox where you play the role of a super genetically modified cop. You are in charge of patrolling Pacific City, finding the various gangs and their leaders and executing them with extreme prejudices and explosions. That's all. Now go crazy.
The legacy of Crackdown lasted much longer than expected, thanks to its simple premise (which leads to one of the biggest twists in the history of the game), to its fast-paced game, to its world of sandbox and its system of tangible progress. This is no more obvious than the hype surrounding the upcoming Crackdown 3, as well as the great marketing ploy of making living person Terry Crews the face of the game.
Today, Crackdown has been offered for free in the past, but only as part of the Games with Gold promotion. I even bought a subscription just to get my hands on the game (and Fable 3), but today is the first time Crackdown is offered to everyone, regardless of their Xbox subscription Live Gold. And the game is not just free on Xbox One. If you've managed to keep your Xbox 360 console, you can also purchase it for free.
You're probably wondering why Crackdown is currently free for all, and so are we. Our best guess is that it aims to exaggerate X018, which is supposed to start tomorrow. Many players are waiting for a Crackdown 3 announcement at the convention and what better way to make the game play the game than a free copy of the original Crackdown? Free play is synonymous with free advertising. Of course, this is just an educated guess.
We have no idea if Crackdown is now free or for a limited time, so you should probably grab your copy as you can.
