Blizzard announced that the last team of the Overwatch League has joined the competition in the form of the Chengdu Hunters.
The Overwatch league has been flying for some time. The match won last year's Esports Awards, alongside several major teams. Season 2 of the league announces promising with great hope that the competition can develop an even larger fan base. We plan to announce two more teams soon, but it's already time to change another one.
Overwatch League now hosts Chengdu Hunters. This makes the third Chinese team to join the league behind Shanghai and Guangzhou. The team comes from HUYA Inc., sporting a panda logo and yellow and black colors. HUYA Incs. Wu Zefeng said in a quote (via ESPN):
The Overwatch league is an international league and the Chengdu Hunters will impress not only the world of the game by their excellent performance, but will also bring to the league more Chinese elements, thus increasing our diversity. The name, Chengdu Hunters, stands for courage, intelligence, speed and teamwork; the name was chosen to symbolize the dedication of the team in search of the honor of the league.
No team announcement has yet been made for the team, so we will have to wait to see what the team brings to the table.
The second season of Overwatch League should feature a big Chinese element, with Hangzhou too. It's exciting, because the league felt a bit focused on the United States in its first year. It's great to see the league ready to become much more global.
