A partnership between the two companies will soon make it easier to find new Apple products on Amazon, but at the expense of the small businesses that depended on Amazon to reach their customers.
Starting Jan. 4, only Apple products listed by the company itself and authorized resellers will be allowed on Amazon. It is nominally about developing the products available and improving customer satisfaction, but CNET noted Monday that a legitimate market for used and refurbished appliances was about to collapse.
"Vendors are extremely important to Amazon and our customers, and we are informing them now so that they can prepare for this change," said a spokeswoman for Amazon.
A salesman, Page Weil, is complaining to CNET However, Amazon offers no other support, if it is the promise to return the unsold stock at its expense. Weil currently holds approximately $ 50,000 worth of Apple products stored in Amazon warehouses and plans to use eBay to sell off anything that does not sell before the January deadline.
Some companies may be able to slip under the wire of Amazon's renewed certified renovation program, but only if they already sell millions of dollars in Apple products. It is believed that hundreds or even thousands of companies will not be eligible and will be forced to visit eBay or other sites to transfer their shares.
The agreement with Apple does not affect the reworking offers certified by Amazon's Renewed Owen.
The Apple-Amazon agreement applies to the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan and Spain, and will bring products such as the iPhone XR, the iPad Pro 2018 and the Apple Watch Series 4 in the coming weeks. The HomePod is a notable exception, since it would compete with Amazon's Echo speakers.
Apple says "work with Amazon to enhance the experience of Apple customers on their site".
