Gift cards such as those offered by GameStop are a popular strategy because of the way they keep the expenses contained in the store. This is not a traditional discount because you have to spend money in store for it to count. But this allows you to spend this money for any game or accessory of your choice, as long as they are games or accessories available on GameStop.
GameStop is not alone this year: Kohl's also has a very attractive program "Kohl's Cash" which gives you a percentage of your purchase in gift cards slightly more versatile than those of GameStop. These two solutions allow retailers to make their offers a little more attractive than their competitors, without changing the price of the bundle itself.
