Pokemon: Let's go, Eevee! and Pokemon: let's go, Pikachu! In Japan, the latest entry into the longstanding franchise has climbed to the top of the Japanese charts after selling 664,198 copies in just three days.
As reported by Famitsu (via Gematsu), this figure includes physical copies, Poke Ball Plus packs, download cards and Switch hardware kits – but not direct digital sales.
Speaking of hardware, the launch of Pokemon: let's go Switch hardware sales more than tripled in Japan, with 180,585 units sold between November 12 and 18, compared with 53,385 units the previous week.
It is also interesting to note how much the game is selling compared to others Pokémon given titles Let's go is a more relaxed re-imagination of Pokémon: Red and Bluerather than a new main version.
Indeed, despite this apparent handicap, Let's go compares favorably with previous entries, with Dr. Serkan Toto, video game industry analyst, highlighting that it's sold more than 660,000 copies in three days on a base of 5.5 million Switch consoles, accounting for a connection rate of about 12 %.
On the other hand, Pokemon: Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon launched last November and sold 1.2 million units over three days against 24 million 3DS consoles installed, a connection rate of about 5%.
It's a comparison that highlights how much Pokemon: let's go has been received on the switch, and there is more where it comes on Dr. Toto's complete thread on Twitter (pasted below).
Another comparison.
Initial collection rate of Pokemon games over time:
X / Y: 15.8%
Omega / Alpha: 9%
Sun / Moon: 8.6%
Ultra: 5%
Let's go: 12%Note that these are just numbers (rounded) for the first 3 days and only in Japan.
