One of the most talked about games of the E3 this year has been Death Stranding from Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions. Even though the eight-minute promotional trailer of the game eventually revealed some of the actual gameplay, none of it made any sense to most people, even though they were absolutely fascinated by its content and its themes. Remedy Entertainment, writer and creative, Sam Lake, was even surprised by how visually captivating Death Stranding was and only had high praise for the work that Hideo Kojima and the rest of Kojima Productions are putting into the future PS4 exclusive. Lake said during the interview at E3:
These praiseworthy remarks at Gamespot seem particularly noteworthy coming from Lake's likes, which is not creative light. In fact, he is the most recognized to popularize Max Payne, which was one of the first movie-style video games released in the day by mixing pages of novel stories with poetically poignant descriptions of Max's battle across the freezing New York night while trying to unravel a conspiracy involving his wife. murder and his own criminal supervision at the hands of his former friend.
contrary to Metal Gear Solid, although, Max Payne did not quite dive too deeply into the weird or weird. Lake kept the writing closer to similar to the pulp graphic novels of the 1990s, with the themed story about police and corporate bribery. Remedy's other projects, such as Alan Wake and Quantum break were still infused with thrills and frills, with the first dabbling in horror while the latter was a science fiction tale leaning on time travel and quantum paradoxes.
Even having a lot of work hailed and acclaimed by the widespread criticism in the gaming industry, Kojima's artistic expression of combining cinematic cinematics with gameplay shifted into a game like Death Stranding has made filmmakers and video game designers stop, get up and study their work in a different light.
Kojima is known for bringing a lot of Hollywood-style elements to the creative space of the video game, such as the shaky-cam effect present in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Painor long travellings without escapements.
Even though we have seen several cinematics and some of the gameplay of Death Stranding we still do not know exactly what the game is about, but we will eventually discover it at some point. Sam Lake, meanwhile, is still working on his own project called Remedy Control, which is a paranormal shooter that seems to combine the likes of Dark city with The matrix and Men in black all wrapped in a nice little package. Both Death Stranding and Control are expected for home consoles in the future.
