Xiaomi has always been known for his cheap and yet decent smartphones, but with his relatively younger Redmi line, he has proven that he can go even lower. The popular Chinese OEM proves it once again with the launch of its Redmi 6 Pro smartphone and its Mi Pad 4 tablet, offering consumers more choices in terms of "bang for buck". At least if you are in any of the non-US markets to which Xiaomi's address.
Just two weeks ago, Xiaomi unveiled the midrange Redmi 6 and the even more affordable Redmi 6A. Now he is going in the opposite direction with the Redmi 6 Pro without going too far. It's pretty much the lighthouse of Xiaomi's Redmi line and it shows, especially with the design.
Let's put it away: yes, there is a notch. Unlike the Redmi 6 and 6A, Redmi 6 Pro's 5.84-inch FHD + display has a cutout, in the image of the Xioami Mi 8. But the notch is narrower, almost like a bite. It has two cameras, 12 and 5 megapixels, arranged vertically with the flash separating the two lenses. It is, surprisingly, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 2016, which you can doubt is good enough for AI Face Unlock features and Xiaomi's Camera AI.
As always, Xioami offers a number of memory configurations for the Redmi 6 Pro with prices to match. For 999 RMB ($ 155), you can get one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. For 1,109 RMB ($ 170), you can push the RAM to 4GB. If you really want to spend your budget, the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model will cost you 1,299 RMB ($ 199).
As for the Mi Pad 4, the Android tablet sports a newer Snapdragon 660 processor packed under the 16:10 8-inch display. Slate is more traditional, with no fancy features or designs of many mobile devices today. This means a single 13 megapixel f / 2.0 camera at the back and a 5 megapixel f / 2.0 front camera. There is a 6000 mAh battery inside and, depending on your choice, LTE support in addition to Wi-Fi.
The Mi Pad 4 may seem quite boring until you hear the price. For RMB 1.099 ($ 169), you can get one with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage. 1,399 RMB ($ 215) increases specifications to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. At this point, though, you might as well opt for the 1.499 RMB ($ 230) option that adds LTE connectivity to the top. The global launch in the supported markets has yet to be announced.
