Recently, Warner Bros. has launched a game application called Westworld to match his popular TV series of the same name. It's no surprise that Bethesda Softworks is now suing Behavior Interactive, the co-developer of Warner Bros. and Fallout Shelter, about the recently released game, claiming that this particular title is a "blatant scam" of the hit game. from Bethesda. Anti-atomic shelter.
Westworld was recently launched, and it's a fact that you will notice some similarities in the gameplay elements of Bethesda's new game and Fallout Shelter. Bethesda owns the rights to the Fallout series as intellectual property. In general, the games in the Fallout series unfold in a post-apocalyptic world destroyed by nuclear war, hence the title. The main characters are usually those who live in an "underground vault" that protects them from the dangers of the nuclear wasteland above.
Anti-atomic shelter as a game was built around this premise – the player manages a chest with people inside. The game allows you to control the type of coins you build in the chest to make life easier within it. Bethesda claims that Behavior Interactive "violated its contract with Bethesda and used its restricted access to Bethesda's intellectual property", highlighting similar gameplay elements including "2D caricature characters in a 3D environment" and the underground facilities that players are exploring and build, in Fallout Shelter and Westworld.
When you play Westworld, this game allows you to control almost every important aspect of the park – as in the TV series. This includes the maintenance of an underground area that looks a lot like the different compartments of Fallout Shelter. The robotic hosts you create are fully customizable and can be sent to "satisfy the desires" of human guests in the park, an element not found in the Bethesda Fallout Shelter.
But Bethesda brings more than that – he claims that Westworld is actually based on the same code as Fallout Shelter. From the lawsuit, Bethesda admits that there was a specific bug in a pre-release demo version of Fallout Shelter. The bug has been fixed before the public release of Fallout Shelter. But surprisingly, the same bug appeared in a demo version of Westworld.
The lawsuit was filed in a Maryland District Court in the United States, and Bethesda points out that Westworld "has the same game design, artistic styles, animations, features and other similar play items" or "Fallout Shelter". The company is now suing for copyright infringement, breach of contract and misappropriation of trade secrets. The publisher is seeking a jury trial and damages.
