The spirit of Captain Life Is Strange is a two-hour punch

In The awesome adventures of Captain SpiritChris Eriksen, 9, sets up a tower of his father's beer cans for his superhero, Captain Spirit, to sink into the abyss. He had to practice his goal for the impending big fight of that day against his sworn enemy, Mantroid. While his father was sleeping in a drunken stupor, he took out recycling, briefly smelling a sour smell of cold beer. In Captain Spirit, published yesterday, a superhero always finds a good use for a waste situation.

Captain Spirit is a free two hour adventure game by Life is strange Dontnod developer. Published in September forecast Life is strange Season 2, Captain Spirit is both an offshoot and a standalone of Chris Eriksen, aka Captain Spirit. It's a playful and melancholy story about the imaginary adventure of an unattended child who hides a few real punches.

In good Life is strange In style, the player gleans details about Chris and his father's life by collecting and interacting with objects like dinosaur toys, trophies, letters and firecrackers. The player meets Chris and his superhero idol Captain Spirit on a snowy Saturday morning in Chris' room, which is littered with figurines and comics. Chris illustrates Captain Spirit's suit, which, depending on what the player chooses, involves light or heavy armor, a mask, or a helmet. He also practices the psychic powers of Captain Spirit. His father, in the other room, prepares a disappointing breakfast of scrambled eggs.

During his day, Chris has a number of things to do: assemble his superhero outfit, play a mobile game on his father's phone, meet all his superhero allies, fight the miserable snow monster. From here, the story poses and unravels a series of gloomy questions: Where is Chris's mother? Why does his father drink so early in the morning? What's that bruise on Chris's arm? Why is the house small and messy? Small puzzles and clues found come together to form a heartbreaking and exciting story about the escape from a troubled reality.

Captain Spirit Arouses a surprising range of emotions in a brief and refreshing two hours. As a sweet trail of Sufjan Stevens plays, it's hard to look outside the fort of Chris's tree without feeling any childhood pains. When he catches the keys to his father's car, I felt a little adult fright. Then there are trivially amusing story bows like the Battle of Power Bear and Noctarious, two toys on Chris' floor. Without giving too much, Captain Spirit do a lot of things with a little time. And anyone looking to kill a few hours with a good, fresh and thoughtful story game, could not do better.
