Aston Martin introduced the DBS Superleggera online following a major leak. The coupe will soon replace the Vanquish at the top of the corporate hierarchy.
From a design standpoint, the carbon-fiber DBS Superleggera stands out from recent addition to the company's lineup with a more muscular design featuring a gaping grille mounted on the front bumper and a carved hood with two vents. The belt line pours into the oversized rear wings that end where a pair of thin taillights start. An elegant Aston Martin script on the rear bumper adds a finishing touch to the look. All in all, the DBS looks mature but it undoubtedly means business.
With soft leather, accented seams and carbon fiber inserts, the interior is just as nice as what is usually found in a high-end German sedan. This is partly because part of it comes from an upmarket German sedan. Aston Martin borrowed the infotainment system from the Mercedes-Benz industrial partner. Passengers navigate the software with the help of a touchpad and a controller button mounted between the center console seats. To make space, Aston replaced the gear selector with buttons that he mounted directly under the vents.
If James Bond gets lost, the DBS Superleggera comes standard with Bluetooth connectivity, navigation and Wi-Fi in the car.
The long hood conceals an evolution of the mighty 5.2 liter V12 from Aston. In this app, it's double turbocharged to make 715 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 664 lb-ft of torque between 1800 and 5000 rpm, more than in all the other cars it powers. It channels its prodigious production to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission mounted at the rear of the car to improve weight distribution and, consequently, handling. Aston sets the time from zero to 62 mph at 3.4 seconds from the DBS and its top speed at 211 mph.
At a price of $ 304,995, the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera 2019 will arrive in the third quarter of 2018. When it lands, it will be competing for the attention of fans who would normally buy a Lamborghini Aventador S or a Ferrari 812 Superfast. And although it's debuting as a coupe, it's reasonable to expect the lineup to become a convertible model by the end of 2019.
