Even though it's a small, fun system, the technology of the Nintendo Switch is not as powerful as the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. With that, people probably think, "There is no way that the X game can work on such hardware." And some listed Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus as one of those games before it was officially announced
When the game was released last November for other platforms forms, it was a technical power, loaded to the handle with awesome visual effects and more Nazi schemes than you could do it. So, how could the Switch follow all this action? Simple. The developers of Panic Button are quite capable of doing this.
While we are immersed in the game for our next review, Digital Foundry has posted a new technical comparison video that you can see above. In this one, he compares the recently released version of Nintendo Switch to others, breaking down the specific corners Panic Button had to cut in order to get the juggernaut to work on the small system.
And if you pay close attention, it's pretty obvious to see where the changes have been made. The visual quality in some places is not as high as in others; and sometimes objects, such as walls, have been placed so that the game continues to function as efficiently as possible. And there were also noticeable declines in frame rate during some of the greatest action points in Wolfenstein II but nothing to the point where the game ceased to function.
Nevertheless, it's pretty easy to see how much Panic Button's work is on the title. Even with the small changes, it still works surprisingly well; and the action does not really let go, even going as far as to stay in motion blur in some places. This shows how much the developer came up with the platform after working on Doom and Rocket League .
While we wait (patiently) see what Panic Button is working on next, take courage Wolfenstein II works like a dream on the Nintendo Switch. And with these guys who are busy developing some of the best games on the platform, they have a bright future ahead of them. Where you go.
