The Chevrolet Silverado is one of the most popular pickup trucks in the United States, but that does not make it unaffected by the global trend of downsizing. With the pressure to downsize more and more by the minute, Chevrolet has decided to announce a new 4-cylinder engine for the Silverado.

Chevrolet revealed that the 2019 Silverado will come out with the option of a new 2.7-liter 4-cylinder engine. The details on the factory will be released in the third quarter this year and we are curious to see the type of output that the van will have with the configuration.

Most importantly, it seems that Chevrolet is giving regulators a sucker punch on the downsizing trend because a 2.7-liter capacity is really huge for a 4-cylinder mainstream engine. The huge displacement will greatly help to deliver smooth performance, but we do not see how much can be done to improve fuel economy.
