New Xbox material teased for Gamescom [Update: Nope]

Update: Perhaps unsurprisingly, Microsoft modified its blog to clarify what it meant. Gone is the reference to "all new Xbox hardware and accessories," and in its place is a promise of "new Xbox One bundles and accessories." Since Xbox One X was launched only last year and a new console is not expected for some time, this is not a major shock. It remains to be seen if these bundles will be available worldwide, but whatever it may be, we'll get back to you as soon as Microsoft shares more. The original story follows

Microsoft is preparing for the Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, and has begun to make fun of what can be expected from the series. Among other surprises, the company promises "new hardware and accessories" for Xbox. But do not expect a massive console revealed for the moment.

The provocation comes from an article on Major Nelson's blog detailing Gamescom's plans. It will host an Xbox Live Inside show on the Xbox booth on Tuesday, Aug. 21, which offers "plenty of news, all-new Xbox hardware and accessories, and features on upcoming titles that we can not wait to tell you more about it and maybe even some surprises. "It is unlikely that the company will become the successor of the Xbox One X, so set your expectations around possible hardware revisions or controllers."

The Post also teases that Gamescom will present demos of Forza Horizon 4, Ori and the Wisps will, plus the first playable demos of the State of Decay 2 Daybreak Pack and a new mode for PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds.

Last year, the Gamescom presentation from Microsoft included a special Xbox One X from Minecraft and a special edition "Project Scorpio" at the first Xbox.
