Phoenix of the flame

Just crazy how many old games we've seen this year, just in the last month. I do not care about Kingdoms Of Amalur, but I can only imagine how – and surprised! – His fans are now. I've also enjoyed drumming for more Dino Crisis and Power Stone with Capcom, and I think there's a good chance we'll get it first.

I know we have just had a hot topic on your most wanted phoenix flame, but for me, I would love to see the return of the British classics Starglider and Mercenary. God knows who owns the rights these days, but these are the games that I remember most from my childhood and that are a kind of game that hardly exists nowadays.

I remember the guy who made No Man's Sky a source of inspiration and I guess they are similar. But in my mind at least (I have not played them for years), the old games and the appropriate gameplay were much more important. I would love to see someone doing a big budget game that would allow you to explore a whole solar system, but that was actually a good mix of shots, puzzles and discussions. .

That's the kind of thing Mass Effect was dancing around him, but he was never deep enough to do it. Of course, I'm going to settle for a spiritual continuation, but I'd like to see these names come back.

Comfort food

For my part, I was warmly saved by the rescue of Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning. Yes, it was generic and simple, but for me, it was like a massive dose of comfort food. So easy to digest, you could almost play in zen mode (not quite automatic, but to be honest not far behind) where there was just enough to not get bored but not too much to be overwhelmed.

It was like a single World Of Warcraft player and I would be happy to follow up. The role plays FIFA / Call Of Duty fantastic action, if you want?

Put a price on it

I have no idea what THQ Nordic does (or who they are), but I'm glad they do it. Darksiders and Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning is one of my most favorite forgotten games and I will definitely buy the new remasters / suites.

It reminds me of the value of some of these franchises and names. I mean, I've never met anyone who has a penchant for THQ as a company, so why buy that name and use it for your business? I can only assume because it was really cheap. But how cheap? A few thousand? A few tens of thousands? I would love to know

And what about some of these franchises? Was there an auction job for Blob and Sphinx And The Cursed Mummy? I bet there was not, so how many were there? I'm almost tempted to try to find something really obscure, buy it, and then sell it to THQ Nordic. Does anyone have any idea of the price that Soul Bubbles would cost?

Should know

One of the games I'm expecting the most this year is Life Is Strange 2, so I'm wondering if you're going to do anything with Gamescom. I am upset that this is not about Max and Chloe, but I will still try because I really like what Dontnod does and that not doing a direct follow up is very brave.

The fact is that I want to know as much about it as possible, but on the other hand, I do not want spoilers, which is rather impossible with a game that speaks of history. Anyone else has this problem about other games? That's why I accept the idea of announcing games only a few months before their release. I can not help but watch the spoilers and it's only the fact that it will soon save me from ruining Life Is Strange 2 for me.

I wish somehow that they do not reveal all the characters of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate before that, because I'd love all this to surprise. I doubt that it prevents me from watching live when it is reprogrammed.

GC: We saw it, but it was just a demonstration, so we did not think it was worth writing; all the more so that he would have been full of spoilers. One scene in particular has been extremely well done and makes us optimistic: it's going to be a worthy continuation.

This is not you it's me

Well, I came to realize that video games are no longer for me. Unfortunately, after trying to retake the game by buying The Last Of Us and hoping it would be like the good old days I was playing and ending the original Resident Evil, well, that was not the case!

Whatever the level of development of UHD graphics, etc., I come to accept that I lost interest in playing together because I have not returned since Monday when I received it. Obviously, this is not the game. It's me!

I want to have the interest to resume the game after all this time. And before someone said something like I chose the right game, I think I did it. I will continue to read these pages daily, as I always do and write as well as I can.

Shocking suraction

Well, if I deduce that Jade Empire was a trash, it was not my intention. Just that, having led the genre with the likes of Neverwinter Nights and Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic, the anticipation of Jade Empire could not be higher.

But what we had was rather disappointing. They all had old and mythical China and they told us about the value of a park. The fight was dull and repetitive, the characters were among the weakest of BioWare, and the adventure was simply "OK" when it should have been incredible.

That shocked me anyway.

PS: At Shenmue I, when I played at Space Harrier, I noticed that the titular hero stays in the center of the screen and you have to force him to stay in any place. what other position. I do not remember that anymore. If I put it on the ground or on the sides, it stays there until I say it. Am I doing something wrong or is it the game?

GC: You listed a slight disappointment (generally appreciated by most fans) among the most shocking moments in the game's history, including the console crash in 1983 and Sega's departure from the hardware sector.

Examine the reasons

RE: Cranston asks why sites do not have review notes. There are two good reasons why I can think:

1. Dealing with ridiculously obsessive fanboys can be tiring, so you have to cut them before someone ban them or sort out their abuses.
2. Many publishers refuse to pay their staff bonuses if a game does not reach a particular score on Metacritic, which I find personally totally unacceptable (like many practices in the industry) and by not giving no score, you do not contribute said practice.

GC: Number two usually does not happen anymore.

Rotten system

I am also against the idea of getting rid of revision notes. The example of movie reviews is good. Scores have been used for decades and there has never been a problem. But as far as I know, their fanboy wars have not been so stupid to know if they "prove" that one film is better than another.

Although I guess the equivalent is that people misunderstand how Rotten Tomatoes works. I've talked to so many people that the main percentage is a score I wonder how the site became popular. It's the percentage of reviewers who gave it a positive score, it's not an indication of the score itself!

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that all the fandoms are haunting in their own way and that everything comes down to feeling when something you do not like is praised when you love something . It's human nature, I suppose, but it's so fundamental that you would think we would have learned to surpass ourselves now.

Nice Ace Combat 7 interview, GC. I would be delighted if they then tried to do a space combat simulator, that would be amazing. And we heard it here first!

Too bad for the Nintendo Direct delay, but totally understand the reasons. Nintendo is always very sensitive to this kind of things. I hope it will be next week now.

Hot Topic of this week

The subject for the inbox of this weekend has been suggested by the Agro reader, who asks what would be the video game of your dream comic?

Spider-Man was released on PlayStation 4 this week, but comic book groups are surprisingly rare nowadays, despite their popularity in movie theaters and their overall fitness for gaming. So, if budgets and licenses were not a problem, what game would you play based on which hero and which scenario?

You do not have to be linked to a superhero, as long as the property is mainly known as comics, but what kind of game do you imagine and how will the gameplay work in terms of powers? and capabilities?
