Nintendo's now-delayed live presentation may not contain many surprises after the end of the week. We first learned that Square Enix was bringing Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD to Switch, and now the 2K publisher has fantastic news for turn-based strategy fans. Civilization VI landed on the console on November 16th.
This does not seem to be a simplified version either. According to the official website, it will be delivered with all currently available DLCs, adding four new scenarios, civilizations and leaders:
- Vikings Scenario Pack
- Pack Civilization & Scenario Poland
- Pack Civilization & Scenario of Australia
- Pack Persia and Macedon Civilization & Scenario
I only played the basic game at the time of its release, so I would not mind sending Vikings to loot unsuspecting areas like Europe. The Rise & Fall Expansion pack has added a new dose of new mechanisms and layers of strategy, so I'm pretty sure that Switch's players will spend a lot of time in this one.
If you prefer to make your religious conquest and cross with or against a friend, the Switch version of Civilization VI will support the 4-player wireless LAN. No word on whether or not it supports online multiplayer.
Civilization VI Originally launched in 2016, it is currently 88/100 on Metacritic, garnering mainly positive reviews. In my eyes, that (next to 2K XCOM) is always the reference for exciting and exciting strategy games.
Switch owners continue to show their enthusiasm for older title ports, and I'm sure that as long as enthusiasm remains strong, leading publishers will continue to showcase the most successful games in their catalog.
On a closing note, this news was Probably Nintendo Direct, which was postponed yesterday, but once the workings of marketing are up and running, it can be difficult for big publishers like 2K and Square Enix to brake. I hope we will still have some surprises when Nintendo will postpone the broadcast.
UPDATE: Curiously, 2K has deleted the announcement blog from its official website. . .
