Lexus builds a boat. Yeah, it 's as weird as you think, but in addition to being a fundamentally useless exercise and a surefire way to light the money on fire, that' s also very cool.
To clarify, the 65-foot motor yacht was not built by Lexus as such, but it was built in close consultation between the car company and the Marquis-Larson group. The Lexus LY 650 was built on the success of the Lexus Sport Yacht concept and will be put into production with the Marquis-Larson handling and maintenance building.
The LY 650 uses the Lexus L-Finesse design language, but fortunately it seems to have chosen not to include the spit grid that would likely frighten all fish on the course of the boat. Lexus does not give us any information about the yacht's power plant, besides saying that all of its Toyota Ponam boats use a derivative of the Lexus 300Gd diesel, which we do not find here.
The other details are rare too, but considering all the Lexus speeches about their takumi craftsmen and the reasons for choosing Marquis-Larson, we expect the interior to be beautiful. The LY 650 is expected to debut worldwide in 2019, and we would love to attend.
We'd better start buying boat shoes and embroidered shorts just in case.
