A company more famous for its work on the Jeeps worked harder against the off-road.
Chevrolet revealed the newest addition to its Colorado lineup, the ZR2 Bison.
In conjunction with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), a company known to have modified Jeeps, the ZR2 Bison captures a number of off-road additions to the ZR2.
Chevrolet says the AEV has overtaken the vehicle and has "identified the most vulnerable off-road truck parts and is undertaking to strengthen them."
The result of their efforts is the inclusion of five individual steel skid plates designed to protect the engine, sump, fuel tank, transfer case and front and rear locking differentials.
Other additions include a Chevrolet lettering grille, AEV-designed wheel arch extensions and 17-inch rims, AEV stamped steel front and rear bumpers, front winch devices and recovery points. back.
Although Chevrolet has not yet published official figures, the approach and departure angles should both be improved with the new bumpers.
Inside, the only change is the AEV logo stamped on the front seats and the floor mats, the interior being otherwise identical to the ZR2 model.
The Bison ZR2 will be available with the choice of either one 230 kW, 373 Nm V6 petrol 3.6 liters or one 135kW, 500Nm 4-cylinder diesel 2.8 liters.
Mark Dickens, director of engineering for performance variants at Chevrolet, said the ZR2 Bison had been developed in response to a growing desire to offer hardcore variants of existing SUVs.
"It's a growing trend, where people load their trucks and go out for about six days, and roam all kinds of terrain, where they need to be able to crawl over stuff and travel long distances on all kinds of of land. . "
This growing trend has already led to the creation of cars such as the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, as well as the future Ford Ranger Raptor to US specifications.
Chevrolet has not yet announced the price of the Bison ZR2.
