Niantic hints at future projects for three Android titles

Niantic, which is owned by Google, recently went on his blog to provide hints on future plans for three AR titles on Android, including the upcoming Ingress Prime, Pokemon Go and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. However, the most important detail of all could be in the choice of Niantic's words in the ad itself. In particular, Niantic says this fall will be "exciting" compared to each of these titles. This seems to indicate that the two new titles – Ingress Prime and Harry Potter – and the incoming Pokemon changes will arrive in the coming months.

The company's advice on the Pokemon GO Center is vague but suggests that trainers will soon have "more ways to play together". In recent months, Niantic has already introduced new trading and combat mechanisms. So, this could eventually point to long-time player-versus-player battles and players have been asking since the game's launch. Although speculative, it's hard to imagine what the company could bring about in terms of multiplayer experiences. Meanwhile, Niantic has again confirmed that a title of Harry Potter AR is still in the cards and now directs interested Android players to an official web page where they can sign up to receive notifications on the title in the approaching launch. It is said that it will come soon.

That said, Ingress will undergo the biggest changes in the near future. Ingress Prime, which is an update of the original title, should incorporate the advances made with Pokemon GO and the Niantic Real World platform. The update will likely include new anti-cheats and other controversial features of the other game, but it will also include simplified gameplay and graphics, in addition to support for Google's ARCore platform. Beyond that, the change will make it easier to translate improvements to AR components from one title to another, since they will both be based on the same technology. Niantic plans to reveal more information about this and about an Ingress animated series recently published on Netflix in the launching approach.
