Nintendo has dedicated a portion of its latest Direct presentation to share more information about its upcoming paid online service for Switch. The service will begin being distributed to players next week, September 18 (September 19 in Europe and Japan), and we now know a few more details about its classic game library and other benefits.
As noted earlier, while online services were free on Switch since the launch of the console in March 2017, you will need to subscribe to a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to play games such as Splatoon 2 and Super Smash Bros. online players go from the front. Many of these games will receive additional features via the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone application. Subscribers to Switch Online will also receive other benefits, such as cloud backups. This will not work with all titles – the upcoming Pokemon role-playing games, Let's Go, Pikachu and Let's Go, Eevee are some of the games that will not support this feature – but they will be available for the Most Switch titles. Subscribers will also receive "special offers" on the Eshop, although Nintendo states that it will share more details about this in the future.
Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions can be purchased in one month (US $ 4 / £ 3.49 / AU $ 6), three months (US $ 8 / £ 7 / AU $ 12) and 12 months (US $ 20 / £ 18) / AU $ 30) increments. Nintendo also has an annual family plan of 35 USD / 31.49 USD / 55 USD, which allows eight Nintendo account holders from the same family group to benefit from this service, even on different Switch consoles.
