In the past 24 hours, users have started noticing a strange problem with Google's Gboard keyboard on Android, and that breaks the typing of the slide.

Several threads on Reddit during the last day saw users noting that Gboard's on-the-fly typing function was working. If you're not familiar with AutoComplete, Google uses the most used slap method over the years. It's certainly a handy feature, and that's why it's frustrating to not work properly.
Update: Google responded to the situation with the following statement:
We are aware of a bug that affects the accuracy of typing in Gboard. We are working on a fix; in the meantime, leaving Gboard or restarting your phone may provide a temporary solution.

Users note that glide typing itself still works, but the results it brings are often very different from what was intended. There is no specific template, but it is almost impossible to type a message correctly on the first try. On the 9to5Google team, I'm the only one to have noticed this bug personally, and it's on a Galaxy Note 9 in my case. This seems to be a bug that affects multiple devices, although many cases occur on the Pixel 2 / XL.
We do not really know what is causing it, but it seems to be a kind of server-side bug and it does not seem to be related to the battery saver bug that appeared yesterday. Hopefully Google will deploy a correct fix as soon as possible.
In the meantime, there are some methods that seem to solve the problem if your device is affected. On the one hand, you can simply force the Gboard application to stop via your settings. You can also fix the problem, at least temporarily, by clearing the app's cache or even just restarting your phone. For me, open the Gboard application and the recent slide seems to have done the trick.
