With TwitchCon in just over a month, Twitch has unveiled updates and enhancements to security and security events.
"You are the most important thing about TwitchCon," Twitch said in a new blog post today. "Although your safety has always been our top priority, this year we are improving our specific security and control measures. We work closely with local police forces in San Jose, congressional staff and additional security services.
Future gaming events like TwitchCon and others will undoubtedly be under high scrutiny after the tragic shooting of last month on a Madden NFL 19 tournament where three lives were lost.
Changes to the security of this year's events include bag search and security checks at all designated entry points for each attendee. Participants will be allowed to bring a bag (12 "x 15" x 6 "), but no backpacks are allowed, and each bag will be searched.
No weapons will be allowed in the venue, as is clearly stated in the blog post. Staff and security will have the last word regarding any security related issues during the event.
In addition, all participants must wear their badge in all areas of the event and it must be visible at all times. Participants must also have a valid photo ID or passport.
TwitchCon will be held October 26-28 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California.
