Apple launches Golden Master version of the app for iOS 12 shortcuts

Before the launch of iOS 12, watchOS 5 and tvOS 12 next week, Apple has released an updated version of the Shortcuts app that will be available right out of the iOS 12.

The new beta version of the shortcuts is the gold version of the application, which represents the final version of the application provided to consumers.



According to Apple's release notes, the new shortcut update introduces new actions that were not available during the beta testing period, with "Limited Actions Available in Beta" listed as problem solved.

During the beta test period of iOS 12, access to the iOS shortcut application via Testflight was limited to developers. Public beta testers and consumers in general will be able to experience the Shortcuts app for the first time next week.

For those unfamiliar with shortcuts, there is an iOS 12 Siri feature designed to allow you to create multi-step shortcuts using first and third-party applications. which can be activated by the Siri voice command.

For example, you can create a shortcut to activate the thermostat at home using the Nest app, send a text message to your roommate on the move, and open the Maps application with the single order instructions "I'm going home." Siri.

The shortcuts are deeply customizable, with third-party applications capable of exposing a series of quick actions to Siri that can be incorporated into your shortcut recipes. Applications should start publishing updates with support for Siri Shortcuts and other iOS 12 features as early as next week.

Apple will release iOS 12, watchOS 5 and tvOS 12 on Monday, 17 September. Software updates will likely be released at 10:00 Pacific time.
