Fallout 4: New Vegas is a total conversion mod that aims to integrate Fallout: New Vegas into the more modern Fallout 4 engine. It's a tall order, of course, but the team behind F4NV has now shown the New Vegas character creation process running in the new engine.
As you will remember, Fallout: New Vegas opens with you, the "Courier," which is shot in the desert, outside of New Vegas. When you arrive, you are at Doc Mitchell, the resident physician in the village of Goodsprings. You define your character traits and abilities by answering the doctor's questions about how you feel, a Rotschach ink smear test, and a session with the old Vit-O-Matic Vigor machine. Test.
It's quite present in Fallout 4: New Vegas, now with the high resolution visuals and face animations and updated characters introduced with Fallout 4. Of course, the work is still going on and the roughness old games is visible this rebuilt version.
The modders behind F4NV have just released a 10-minute video showing their work to recreate the progress of New Vegas character creation in action, which you can look here:
Note the voice of Doc Mitchell, which the team has re-recorded with a new actor to comply with the requirements of Bethesda for projects like this one. The new dialogue is quite precise, at least if my own memory of New Vegas serves me.
The project is always looking for voice actors, and if you want to audition, you can apply on this page of Casting Call Club. They will want to know what recording material and what experience you have if you apply.
Ambitious reinstatements like this are not always over, but Fallout 4: New Vegas draws its talent from many passionate modders. It will be worth keeping an eye on.
