The Galaxy S10 will be Samsung's 10th anniversary and, given that the Galaxy S9 was a minor upgrade, fans are hoping for substantial improvements on the company's next flagship smartphone. DJ Koh, CEO of Samsung's mobile division, said the design changes of the Galaxy S10 would be "very important".
This remark was made during a conversation with Chinese media earlier this week. Koh did not go into the details of these changes and was probably referring to the overall design of the upcoming flagship product compared to the Galaxy S9 which was an incremental update on the Galaxy S8.
Galaxy S10 design changes
Samsung should not do anything with this device, as the Galaxy S10 will not be its long-awaited foldable smartphone. It will look a lot like a flagship product in the Galaxy S series, but could have a higher screen-to-body ratio and perhaps a slimmer profile.
The Galaxy S10 is also expected to be Samsung's first smartphone with a three-camera system. Of the three models that the company could announce, two would have a three camera system in the back. That in itself would add a new design element to the Galaxy S series.
Koh also mentioned that the Galaxy S10 will be offered in "amazing" colors, so it is possible that the company is preparing a new color option for the device. Reports suggest that a new green color option can be proposed. Samsung has not manufactured a green flagship since it offered the Galaxy S6 advantage in Emerald Green in 2015. It is also possible that Samsung will offer degraded color options with its next flagship product.
We still have some way to go before the Galaxy S10 is due. Samsung is expected to unveil the device early next year. We will certainly hear a lot more rumors about this device before that date.
