The Cadillac CT6-V 2019, renamed CTS-V, will be grazed

The most powerful cars in the Cadillac V-Series gain a new member, with the 2019 CT6 V-Sport certificated before its launch at CT6-V status. The news will see the super-sedan of about 550 horsepower replace the fans' favorite CTS-V, which will be discontinued after the 2019 model year.

The CT6 V-Sport was announced in March, the first vehicle to offer Cadillac's first bi-turbo V8. Sitting at the top of the CT6 lineup, the car is equipped with all standard drive wheels and should spit 550 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. The automaker has performance close to reality, although the estimates are high.

Now, says Cadillac, the car becomes famous before it arrives at dealerships. Rather than a simple V-Series car – the performance sub-brand that the automaker recognizes as helping to reinvent Cadillac in 2004 – it will be a full member of the speed club.

"Following the overwhelming response received by the CT6 V-Sport in early 2018," said Mark Reuss, executive vice president and president of GM Global Automotive Group and Cadillac, "we decided to make a series of V, signaling the expansion of Series V. "Unfortunately, this will replace rather than joining some of the current members of the V-Series club.

The CTS-V is probably the most similar car of the current Cadillac lineup on the CT6-V 2019. Based on the CTS sedan, it has a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine with 640 horsepower and a torque of 630 lb. ft. With a top speed of 200 mph and a time of 0 to 100 km / h in 3.7 seconds, the only thing that really holds him back are the traction limits of a rear-wheel drive car.

Starting in the 2019 model year, the CTS-V will make its ultimate hi. The same goes for the ATS-V. The smaller car is equipped with a 3.6-liter 3.6-liter V6 with 464 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque. Cadillac confirmed earlier in the year that the 2018 ATS-V sedan would be the latest demonstration of the four-door (with the ATS). Now we know that the ATS-V coupe will only last one year longer than that.

Cadillac intends to fill the gaps, the spirit. The new XT4 crossover of 2019 – on which we have recently delivered our opinion – is a good example. It targets the lucrative segment of compact SUVs whose automaker has been remarkably absent in recent years. New models are expected to arrive every six months or so by the end of 2021 as well.

At the same time, Cadillac plans to increase the availability of one of its flagship features, Super Cruise. The semi-autonomous driving system, which allows drivers to leave the motorway steering wheel, was until now exclusively offered on the CT6 sedan. Cadillac however plans to increase its availability on its entire range from 2020.
