Destiny 2 New crucible mode coming next week

Destiny 2's unique Gambit mode was the culmination of Forsaken's new festivities, but Guardians who have an itch for a more traditional PvP experience may scratch it with another new mode coming in next week. Starting Tuesday, September 25, players will be able to embark on the new mode of breakthrough in the crucible.

Breakthrough is a multi-phase mode. First, players compete for a central zone. Whichever team captures this area, it deploys the Breaker. The losing team can always fight on the zone to take control of it and deploy its own breaker. Once the Breaker is captured, it can be used to hack the enemy vault. The first team to hack the Vault wins, and if you are hacking when the stopwatch expires, you enter sudden death. The best of the three wins the match.

The new mode will first appear as a weekly playlist next week and will be added to the Competitive mailing list starting October 2nd. If you are a Forsaken owner, you can also play Breakthrough. It will also be available on Equinox, Firebase Echo, Citadel, Convergence cards and for PS4 players, Gambler's Ruin.

While you wait for Breakthrough, you can try Gambit mode for free this weekend, even if you do not own Forsaken. Bungie continues to regularly release updates and patches, including improvements in quality of life, such as making certain weapons easier to obtain.
