SEATTLE – The new Amazon Echo Dot and Echo Plus are incremental upgrades that align these models with the design of their larger counterpart.
Instead of bare bottles made of plastic or metal, the Echo Dot and Echo Plus have fabric covers like echo and more rounded edges on the top to give them a softer look. Both devices also feature upgrade speakers and retain all of their previous features, including 3.5mm audio output for connection to other speaker systems and a Zigbee home automation hub in the area. 39, Echo Plus.
Amazon claims that the two speakers sound better than their predecessors, but we can not confirm this from limited listening during the Amazon press event.

Echo input
the Echo input is a much more intriguing Echo device and the cheapest announced by Amazon on Thursday. It is essentially a non-speaker Echo Dot and relies on a wired or Bluetooth connection with any other speaker to provide audio output. Plug the Echo input on your speaker to give it remote voice commands with Alexa, without the presence of the (probably) much less powerful speaker of the Echo Dot.
Since there is no need to contain speakers, the Echo input is perhaps a quarter of the height of the Dot Echo. This is a flat black or white plastic disc with curved edges, a 3.5mm audio output and a micro-USB port for power. In the absence of speakers to be covered, the fabric speaker grille of the other Echo devices is missing.
The Echo Input will sell for $ 34.99, or $ 15 less than the Echo Dot, but is not yet available.
Echo Sub
the Echo Sub is an optional subwoofer for use with Echo speakers. It shares the same rounded and fabric-covered design as its contemporaries, but presents itself as the largest and heavier Echo product because of the mass and volume it needs to function properly as a subwoofer.
It is about twice as large as Echo Plus and three or four times wider. This produced a satisfying rumble in the Amazon demo, far exceeding the low frequency range of any other Echo device we tested. Of course, as a subwoofer, that's all it is planned to do. It does not work by itself and can only work if it is wirelessly coupled to an Echo speaker or a pair of speakers. We'll have a better idea of its performance after testing it in PC Labs, but at $ 129.99, this seems like a small investment to add power to your Echo speakers. It is dispatched on October 11th.
