Square Enix organized a presentation of Kingdom Hearts III with the presence of directors Tetsuya Nomura and Tai Yasue.

New images of the game have been released, including a fight between Sora and Aqua.

Here are some other notable details of the event:

  • Kingdom Hearts III will be the last entry in the Xehanort saga, but Nomura confirmed that there will be more Kingdom Hearts in the future and that we want to continue the story of Sora.
  • The Gummi Ship part of the game was performed by a team of 20 to 30 people. There will be two modes, Exploration and Carton mode. The new Exploration mode will allow players to navigate freely between words. The pieces of Gummi Ship as the previous games will appear as gems, candies, cardboard, etc.
  • The game will have more than 20 mini-games, some of which we have seen before.
  • The game will have a secret film, but to avoid spoilers, the team is studying different ways to do it. The team is looking to make the movie downloadable instead of having very strict requirements like the previous games.
  • Multiplayer will be scheduled once the base game is over.
  • Ages of Character: Terra: About 20 years old, Aqua: About 18 years old, Ventus: About 16 years old, Young Xehanort: About 18 ~ 20 years old and Master Xehanort: Mid-80s.
  • Director Tai Yasue has confirmed that the game will have more than 10 worlds.

Below, a new gameplay showing different worlds of the game:

Kingdom Hearts III is currently in development for PS4 and Xbox One. The game is expected to be released early next year, January 25 in Japan and January 29 in the West.
