A characteristic characteristic of OnePlus phones is their distinctive red charging cable, which together with a quick charger is the company's proprietary Dash Charge technology. Well, that's what was called until this spring, when the EU rejected OnePlus's request to get a brand on the Dash brand, following complaints from Amazon and Bragi, as identified by Android font. Amazon has its easy Dash buttons, while Bragi's flagship wireless headphones are called The Dash and The Dash Pro. Both argue that there is a risk that OnePlus's fast charging technology will be confused by consumers if it continues to use the Dash name.
Bragi's latest initiative has been to take his case to the US and EU courts, demanding that OnePlus stop using its Dash Charge brand. OnePlus, for its part, does not seem to manifest, and its flagship product OnePlus 6 makes no mention of Dash Charge, but simply returns to a fast generic charge. There are still places where the name remains visible, like the OnePlus 3T page, and these remains are probably what Bragi is not satisfied with and which requires that they be completely erased.
For OnePlus, the failure of securing a brand around Dash Charge is a major setback. The company has invested heavily in the popularization of the name, has taken the trouble to design a logo for the sub-brand and was just starting to market Dash Charging on the OnePlus Wireless Bullets earlier this year. Now, even these marketing materials have been changed, with OnePlus recommending you to use an official OnePlus charger and cable, completely omitting the Dash brand.
