The Xbox One fan event returns in November

Microsoft wants to gather its game fans for a massive rally. The company revealed that it would bring back its Xbox show this year with XO18 in Mexico City on November 10th. This will allow the company to connect directly to consumers significantly.

At a live Inside Xbox show today, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said XO18 would be broadcast online globally. He wants to treat it as an Inside Xbox show. This means that you can tune to Twitch or Mixer. But Spencer also promised important announcements both from publishers and from Microsoft and third party developers.

"We know that our fans love [big announcements]Spencer said. "We can celebrate what it means to be an Xbox fan and player. I think it's going to be a good time.

Spencer also noted that this is part of listening to fans.

"We are bringing back XO," said Spencer. "One thing that fans need to understand is that their voice is extremely important. We listen to their comments. This is essential for the products and services we put before them. We're listening.

More fan events

Microsoft has thrown XO events in the past, but it brings them back to a time when important meetings are not lacking. PAX now has four separate video game shows each year. The Electronic Entertainment Expo has turned into another fan-driven show. And then major gatherings like EGX and GamesCom in Europe attract hundreds of thousands of participants.

But Microsoft seems to be closely mimicking the Sony PSX fan event for PlayStation products. PSX has gathered fans in recent years to celebrate the Sony game brand. It also gave PlayStation a platform to make major announcements by the end of the year.

With XO18 in November, Microsoft seems to have filled this niche this year. Sony has still not confirmed whether it plans a PSX for late 2018 or not.
