Earlier this year, Google announced its new version of Google Maps, which puts more emphasis on discovery. Some of the features announced by the company at the time have already been launched, including many of the promised discovery and discovery tools, but group planning was the only missing feature. But you will not have to wait much longer to plan your outings together with your friends in Google Maps, because today, these collaboration tools are finally launched.
The basic problem that Google is trying to solve here probably sounds familiar to anyone who has ever tried to convince a group of more than two people to decide where to go for dinner – or any other outing, really. It usually takes far too much text messages for everyone to agree.
You can now create a list of places in Google Maps and share them with your friends. And then, as in any good democracy, your friends can vote to know where to go. Members of the group can also veto them by removing them from the shortlist and adding others they prefer (no one said that democracy was easy, no?).
Once you have created a list, you can share it as any other link and your friends will be eligible for Google Maps on mobile or the web to participate in the planning.
