Nintendo Switch Online has been available for just a week and subscribers have already downloaded the mobile companion app more than five million times.

According to data from the Sensor Tower analyst firm, this figure represents one-quarter of the global base of 20 million switches, based on information gathered as of June 30. Most applications come mainly from the United States and Japan. Japan's share of facilities comes to 33% and the United States to 30%. More than half of the app installs came from 60% Android device users, while 40% used iOS devices.

Since the launch of the subscription service on September 18th, we've introduced paid online multiplayer options, classic Nintendo Entertainment System games, and cloud backup options. It is now a mandatory option for those who want to go online and compete in titles like "Splatoon 2" or "Mario Tennis Aces", so it's not really surprising to see so many installations following the introduction of the service.

The companion app was, originally, available since last July, when users have downloaded it a million times. Switch users had explored its various features, such as voice chat, and all that it allowed players to test before the official launch of the paid subscription system. Last July, the app recorded about 240,000 installations and 268,000 in August.

Previously, owners of Nintendo Switch had not been impressed by the fact that headphones had to be plugged in to work with the system's online voice chat via the app, although curious Switch players were downloading the app to see what was waiting for them. impressive rate even before the service was operational.
