In June, Oppo launched the Android Find X smartphone that featured a sliding mechanism for its pop-up cameras. Now, it seems that the company plans to release a new version of Oppo Find X with 10 GB of RAM.
The ice world of Twitter is known for its leak (@UniverseIce) revealed that the 10GB RAM version of the Oppo Find X had already been certified by TENAA, the Chinese counterpart of the US FCC. The TENAA list shows that the next version of the Oppo Find X will arrive with 10 GB of RAM and 256 GB of embedded storage.
As a reminder, the Oppo Find X launched earlier this year is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. This variant has already received much praise for its high-quality performance, so why does Oppo want to add 2GB of additional RAM to an already powerful smartphone?
In Review of the Android Authority of the 8 GB of Oppo Find X RAM, they found that the management of the RAM was mediocre. It is possible that Oppo's solution to this problem is simply to add memory. In terms of overall performance, it is difficult to say with certainty whether users will even feel a difference in actual usage.
Even if it does not make a huge difference, packing 10GB of RAM in a smartphone is impressive on its own. When this variant of the Oppo Find X is available, it will be the first smartphone with this size of RAM. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S9 comes with 4GB of RAM, while the Galaxy Note 9 comes with 6GB / 8GB of RAM. Apple's new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max both have 4GB of RAM, while the next iPhone XR will only have 3GB of RAM.
Although 10 GB of RAM may seem exaggerated, this should appeal to many users, as pointed out by Phone Arena. Unfortunately, it seems that this version of the Oppo Find X will only be officially released in China. No release date has yet been released, but if it has already been certified by TENAA, its release is imminent.
