Android 9 Pie removes the ability to see apps with blocked notifications
Last month, Google released the stable version of Android 9 Pie with a gesture-based navigation system, an adaptive battery, and new features. Android Pie came first on the Pixel handsets, including the original Pixel and Pixel XL, as well as the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL. The first comments from users suggest that after updating to Android Pie, the ability to see apps with blocked notifications has been removed. The problem was reported in August and is now marked as resolved by Google, and the company has even confirmed that the capacity will be retained in an upcoming update.
The tech giant has identified this issue as resolved in the Google Issue Tracker, and even said that the option to see the list of apps with blocking notifications would come back in an upcoming update. Currently, after updating Android 9 Pie, the Application Notifications menu displays options for sorting the "Most Recent" and "Very Frequent" lists. This was available before Android Pie, and it was a good way to discover these apps, and unlock the option for any application if the user wanted it. This simply facilitated discovery and users missed the feature on Android Pie.
To elaborate, in Android Oreo, users can access System Settings> Apps & Notifications> Notifications> Application Notifications and press the blue header All apps. From there, users could choose Apps: disabled to view apps with blocked notifications. In Android 9 Pie, by going to System Settings> Apps & Notifications> Notifications> Application Notifications and pressing the blue header, only the Most Recent and Most Frequent options are displayed. It is impossible to see a list of all applications with blocked notifications.
Although Google has not mentioned whether the feature will return in the next update itself or not, we assume this will be the case, as the problem has been fixed.
