"The defendants are accused of having penetrated in a few seconds in the big Apple stores, wearing sweatshirts and products," said the authorities.
One of these burglaries took place on July 7 at the Fashion Fair Apple Store in Fresno, California. Surveillance footage of the incident show four men entering the crowded store, shooting MacBooks and iPhones from the exhibit tables. The entire robbery lasted only a few seconds, but the thieves took away more than $ 27,000 worth of gadgets.
A similar flight took place on July 23 at the Apple Store South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California. In this incident, a group of five thieves stole devices worth $ 29,000, the police said.
Police services in San Luis Obispo and Oakland conducted an investigation with the help of the eCrime service of the California Department of Justice. Local law enforcement in 19 countries also participated in the investigation.
"The successful collaborative efforts of law enforcement have resulted in the dismantling of a vast criminal network," said Oakland Police Chief Anne E. Kirkpatrick in a statement.
