It all started with a tweet on September 13th, saying that he was afraid of not being able to play the latest version of his favorite game, Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Thanks to the online gaming company and Nintendo video game company, the cancer patient, Chris Taylor, of Ontario, Canada, had his wish on September 21, but died at the 39, age 21, Tuesday, September 25th.
His brother Zach shared the news of his death on the Reddit Internet forum, writing: "I hope Chris's memory will continue through us when we play."
The late Mr. Taylor had tweeted on September 13: "I'm really scared of not being able to play Ultimate". Having been diagnosed with bone cancer and having stopped treatment in July this year, he added that December was "far away for someone who is already bedridden".
He also said on Twitter: "I know it's childish to despair on a video game, but Smash is very important to me and when Ultimate looks so good, it breaks my heart."
His first tweet became viral with more than 3,300 retweets and 9,000 likes, and many urged Nintendo to fulfill Taylor's wish.
It finally happened on September 21st that two Nintendo representatives arrived at his home with a demo of the game.
The late Mr. Taylor said on Twitter: "I have to play for three hours with a local friend, my brother and my mother 🙂 Thank you to everyone who did this for me, you are all the real champion (sic). "
Ultimate, released in December, is a fighting game featuring many iconic characters and is the fifth installment in the Super Smash Bros. series.
